While calling for profiling of American Muslims, Fox News host Eric Bolling attacked Rep. Keith Ellison (D-MN), calling him the “Muslim apologist in Congress” and describing him as “very dangerous.” On Fox News’ The Five , Bolling called for profiling of Muslims following the attacks of the Boston Marathon. During the segment, Bolling criticized Ellison, asserting that he’s “very dangerous” and has been “the Muslim apologist in Congress for a long time.” After calling him dangerous, Bolling noted that Ellison “raised his right hand and took the oath of office on the Quran”: Bolling’s attack is part of a long line of smears directed at Ellison.

On April 23 Matt Drudge, owner and operator of the right-wing content aggregater The Drudge Report, tweeted that he “privately told friends” that 2013 would be the “year of Alex Jones.” Drudge has linked to the radio host and conspiracy-monger several times following the Boston Marathon bombings. On his personal twitter feed, Drudge predicted that 2013 would be the “year of Alex Jones,” praising his show as “one hell of a broadcast in such homogenized media!” In the wake of the Boston Marathon bombings, Drudge linked to articles on Jones’ website Infowars, including stories that  called  Boston a “police state” during the manhunt for the alleged perpetrators, and a  post  accusing the Obama administration of covering up the involvement of a Saudi student who was later declared a victim of the attack: Jones made news following the April 15 bombings at the Boston Marathon after he suggested that the blasts were staged by the U.S

On the proposed Keystone XL pipeline, EPA rated the adequacy of the State Department’s Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) as having “Insufficient Information.” In case you missed it , today is the last day to submit public comments to the State Department regarding the proposed pipeline that would transport 830,000 barrels of tar sands oil through the U.S. per day. EPA’s Cynthia Giles, the Assistant Administrator for the Office of Enforcement, has submitted the agency’s public comment .

Why do a determined minority — often in positions of power — refuse to accept that climate change is happening despite the overwhelming scientific evidence? A new study may provide a clue. Researchers at the University of Western Australia found that people who expressed faith in free-market ideology were also likely to reject scientific consensus that climate change is happening and that burning fossil fuels helps to cause it.

The NY Times reports today that the Koch brothers are hoping to become media moguls like Rupert Murdoch: Now, Koch Industries, the sprawling private company of which Charles G. Koch serves as chairman and chief executive, is exploring a bid to buy the Tribune Company’s eight regional newspapers, including The Los Angeles Times , The Chicago Tribune , The Baltimore Sun , The Orlando Sentinel and The Hartford Courant .
