The Washington Post ‘s Bob Woodward, based on a series of dubious factual errors, is now offering a flawed comparison between the Watergate scandal and the Obama administration’s response to the September terror attack in Benghazi, Libya. There’s no small irony to Woodward injecting himself into what has become a scandal driven by deceptively edited emails passed off to reporters, given the recent attention he received after using a similar method to support his ridiculous accusation that a White House aide threatened him. In his latest attempt to jump into the debate on the side of the right wing, Woodward demonstrates a striking lack of familiarity with the basic facts of what happened.  Here’s what Woodward said during his May 17 appearance on MSNBC’s Morning Joe , and what’s wrong with those statements.

Late Friday, after the Heritage Foundation reportedly  considered seeking the counsel  of an outside PR firm to deal with damage to their brand, researcher Jason Richwine, who coauthored the  deeply  fl awed  immigration report pushed by the right-wing think tank,  resigned  his position. New York Daily News  and  Politico  are reporting that Rush Limbaugh’s distribution deal with Cumulus Media may soon be over. Currently, Cumulus Media carries Limbaugh’s show on 40 of its stations, including Limbaugh’s flagship WABC in New York as well as stations in Chicago, Washington DC and Dallas. If Limbaugh and Cumulus part ways, it would represent a significant reduction in Limbaugh’s overall footprint and serve as yet another reminder that Limbaugh’s brand is bad for business

Media outlets are reporting that a new immigration report from the conservative Heritage Foundation found that passing the proposed Senate comprehensive immigration bill will cost $6.3 trillion. In fact, the Heritage report is not an analysis of the entire Senate’s ”Border Security, Economic Opportunity, and Immigration Modernization Act,” and does not take into account costs or savings of the proposal’s broader reforms. Rich Lowry and Jennifer Rubin complained that President Obama used the term “women’s health” and did not mention the word “abortion” while speaking in front of Planned Parenthood on April 26, despite the fact that abortions only make up a small portion of the women’s health services that Planned Parenthood provides. On the May 5 edition of Meet the Press , host David Gregory quoted a May 2 blog post by National Review editor Rich Lowry that appeared in Politico in which he wrote : President Barack Obama was proud to become the first sitting president to address Planned Parenthood last Friday.
