The  American Spectator ‘s Jeffrey Lord misrepresented White House visitor logs to suggest that President Obama knew about the IRS targeting of conservative nonprofits because he met with the president of a union that represents IRS employees shortly before the agency began its controversial actions.

Nathan Deal (R-GA) called a request for him to support integrating a still-segregated school prom in Wilcox County, Georgia a “ silly publicity stunt ,” and he later labeled the segregated prom quesiton a “ private issue [], and not something that the state government needs to have its finger involved in.” Perhaps he would feel differently if he surrounded himself with more diverse appointments

Ohio lawmakers failed to advance an amendment to the state budget that would have prohibited sex ed classes from including any instruction of “ gateway sexual activity ” under penalty of a potential $5,000 fine. News of the provision sparked outrage earlier this week, particularly since banning any health materials that might “condone” sexual contact doesn’t have much to do with the state’s economic policy.

On a conference call with medical professionals on Thursday, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC) reviewed procedures for dealing with the H7N9 bird flu virus and urged American hospitals to be on the lookout for patients exhibiting flu-like symptoms who might have come into contact with the virus recently. The CDC warned that a failure to remain vigilant against the disease could potentially lead to a pandemic, such as the one that is threatening to take hold in China right now
