Ugandan evangelical Christian pastor Martin Ssempa is well known for his obsession with how he thinks same-sex couples have sex, notably his graphic description of how gay men engage in “anal licking”: “ they eat the poo poo .” He has used these audacious presentations to advocate for the “Kill the Gays” Anti-Homosexuality bill since its introduction several years ago. Ssempa appeared this week on the Ugandan TV talk show Morning Breeze where he used various fruits and vegetables to describe how lesbians have sex, because “they don’t have the equipment.” LGBT activist Pepe Onziema, who identifies as a trans man, objected to having to appear on the same show as as a “hooligan.” Watch the inflammatory display: Video streaming by Ustream

John Bolton, former U.S. ambassador to the UN and vocal critic of the Obama administration, is often sought after by the media for his opinion on foreign policy issues, but his stake in the presidential election — as a foreign policy adviser to Mitt Romney — is rarely, if ever, disclosed by the outlets that publish him. In addition to editorials in The Wall Street Journal , The Washington Times , and appearances on Fox News that left Bolton’s ties to Romney undisclosed, a Media Matters review found editorials in five additional publications written or co-written by Bolton that left out that key information.

Last week, Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke announced his institution would launch a third round of quantitative easing — the monetary stimulus the Fed has used intermittently to boost the economy since 2008 — in an effort to finally fulfill the “reduce unemployment” half of the Fed’s dual mandate. In response, Vice Presidential Candidate Paul Ryan denounced the move as “sugar high economics” and repeated to the Christian Broadcasting Network his assertion that “the costs outweigh the benefits” of QE: I’m not a fan of QE3. I wasn’t a fan of QE2 either

During a recent interview on the Today Show, Jim Bob Duggar blurted out, “It’s fun trying!” when asked if he and Michelle were actively seeking to have another baby.  Today’s host, Savannah Guthrie responded to the mega-dad’s salacious remark with, “Jim Bob – you sly dog!” Viewers may have come away with the impression that TLC’s “19 & Counting” celebrity parents, Jim Bob & Michelle Duggar hold very casual, perhaps even avant-garde attitudes regarding sex and sexuality. But a quick look beneath the surface reveals that America’s most celebrated  Quiverfull couple  believe and espouse decidedly unhealthy ideas when it comes to sex and babymaking.

by Kristin Hyde via Climate Access At a gathering of ranchers in Kansas City last weekend, every meeting and meal was opened with a prayer, including a plea for rain to end this devastating drought.  Drought-caused price spikes for feed are forcing many livestock producers to slaughter their herds to a level they can afford to feed.  You won’t often see a direct link in these stories to climate change, and you are even less likely to hear such a link made by the farmers and ranchers themselves.   The key is to understand farmers’ perspectives, be strategic about effective engagement and find common ground.
