It now proceeds to the Senate, where it must pass out of committee before the full chamber considers it. Fox News host Heather Childers failed to disclose her employer’s financial ties to NASCAR and controversies over the National Rifle Association’s sponsorship of a NASCAR race during an interview with NASCAR chairman Brian France. On the April 15 edition of America Live , France responded to allegations made by driver Brad Keselowski that he was unfairly targeted by NASCAR officials because of incidents leading up to the April 14 NRA 500 race. After France denied Keselowski’s allegations, Childers allowed him to talk about NASCAR’s  Going Green initiative. A widely discredited rumor about Secretary of Defense nominee Chuck Hagel could cause headaches for Lou Dobbs, who endorsed that rumor on his Fox Business show. New York Daily News  reporter Dan Friedman  wrote  on Wednesday that he was the unintentional source of a rumor that Hagel had received funding from a terrorist-friendly group called “Friends of Hamas.”  That rumor was spread in right-wing media circles by Breitbart.com’s Ben Shapiro, who carelessly reported  earlier this month that Hagel was paid to speak to a group called “Friends of Hamas.” But, as detailed by Slate’s Dave Weigel and by the  New York Daily News , that organization does not actually  exist .

The US Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) today gave a 60 day reprieve to embattled French governmental electric utility, Électricité de France (EDF), which remains in violation of the Atomic Energy Act while attempting to obtain a license for a third nuclear reactor at the Calvert Cliffs, MD site. But Beyond Nuclear, which has opposed the third reactor and supports a nuclear phase out, views the decision as simply a delay in the inevitable cancellation of all French reactor plans on US soil
