Fox News is falsely suggesting a new Weekly Standard article proves the CIA didn’t link the Benghazi attacks to an anti-Islam YouTube video. In fact, CIA talking points obtained by the conservative magazine actually demonstrate the intelligence community believed there was a link between the attacks and reactions to the video

That provider, meanwhile, took the story from an Austrian-based blog without any editorial review or fact-checking of its own, a practice that is becoming more and more common in the Internet content sharing world. The blog has since deleted its post and all posts from the author appear to have been removed from Boston.com. The false story, which had its roots in a satire by the website Daily Currant , was subsequently picked up by the conservative site Breitbart.com, a move later criticized by Krugman himself and numerous news outlets from The Atlantic to Politico

Earlier this week, I noted that the bulk of the commentary class was berating Obama for failing to ” lead ” on the budget issue.

Insisting there was no reason to “ram” Hagel’s nomination through, and claiming Republicans were acting “thoroughly” and “thoughtfully,” the former Republican senator told Neil Cavuto’s viewers GOP senators leading the filibuster effort “have some very real concerns” and were acting appropriately in blocking a vote.

In a segment titled “Regulation Nation,” anchor Jenna Lee claimed that the health care law’s new regulations are on the “fast track” because the public hasn’t been afforded enough time to offer input on them before their passage. Correspondent Shannon Bream added that this was in contrast to a 1993 executive order from former President Clinton, which required a minimum of 60 days for comment
