Fox News’ Sean Hannity and Todd Starnes portrayed restraints on proselytization as proof of the Obama administration’s purported “war on religious liberty in the military,” despite the fact that military policy has long prohibited unwanted proselytization. On the May 2 edition of his Fox News show, Hannity claimed that a Pentagon statement reiterating the military’s longtime policy against proselytizing was proof of Obama’s “war on religious liberty.” Starnes added that Christians were “under significant attack” by the Obama administration, under which “we have seen a Christian cleansing of the United States military.” In fact, the U.S. military’s anti-proselytization policy has been consistent among all religions, and it targets only disruptive activities.

In seven days, Fox devoted 10 segments to what host Bill O’Reilly called the continued “war on Judeo-Christian tradition.” On March 21, O’Reilly lambasted President Obama and the White House for empowering “secular progressives” to pressure school districts around the country to eliminate terms like “Easter bunny” and “Easter egg.” O’Reilly complained that “the war on Judeo-Christian tradition continues in some public school districts,” citing districts in five states that he said “are having Spring egg events.

The new rules address concerns from both Catholic groups and women’s health organizations — clarifying that women who work for religious employers will still be able to access no-cost birth control, while those religious nonprofit groups won’t have to directly finance the cost of contraceptives they oppose.

The comments appear to be a new post-convention Republican strategy to paint Obama as anti-God: ROMNEY: I believe it’s important to have a president and I will be a president, if elected, that honors that pledge and all the pledges that I made.

A joint statement issued by the religious leaders calls on lawmakers to accept the Medicaid expansion under Obama’s health reform law because “depriving struggling families of healthcare is wholly incompatible with the teachings of our faiths and the ideals of our nation.” In a press call releasing the faith leaders’ statement, Sister Simone Campbell, the executive director of the Catholic social justice group NETWORK, said governors should embrace extending Medicaid coverage to uninsured Americans as a pro-life policy: I call on all governors to expand Medicaid coverage in order to save thousands of lives.

One of those dry spells may have resulted in the Canaanites’ urban culture collapsing while nomads invaded their area, perhaps establishing a climate link to biblical events described in the Old Testament as the exodus of the Israelites to the Promised Land. The new climate data from the area came from a detailed study by scientists with the Steinmann-Institute for Geology, Mineralogy and Paleontology at the University of Bonn, who tracked distinct dry periods during the pottery Neolithic Age (about 7,500 to 6,500 years ago), as well as at the transition from the late Bronze Age to the early Iron Age (about 3,200 years ago)
