Fox News’ Sean Hannity and Todd Starnes portrayed restraints on proselytization as proof of the Obama administration’s purported “war on religious liberty in the military,” despite the fact that military policy has long prohibited unwanted proselytization. On the May 2 edition of his Fox News show, Hannity claimed that a Pentagon statement reiterating the military’s longtime policy against proselytizing was proof of Obama’s “war on religious liberty.” Starnes added that Christians were “under significant attack” by the Obama administration, under which “we have seen a Christian cleansing of the United States military.” In fact, the U.S. military’s anti-proselytization policy has been consistent among all religions, and it targets only disruptive activities.

Fox News defended a billboard that uses images of Native Americans to push a pro-gun agenda, claiming the message is not offensive despite widespread reporting of condemnation from Native American groups. Fox’s The Five defended a billboard purchased in Greely, Colorado by an anonymous group that depicted three Native Americans with the message “Turn in your arms, the government will take care of you”: After guest host Juan Williams claimed Native Americans found the billboard insensitive, Eric Bolling replied “I can’t find what’s insensitive… others think it was accurate.” Bolling added that if you read the Denver Post article “the comments by Native Americans were hey I’m not offended by this.” Co-host Dana Perino agreed, saying “I am not offended by this at all, I think it’s effective advertising”: But reporting on the billboard has highlighted the concerns of several Native Americans from the area.

Washington Times  columnist Jeffrey Kuhner called for President Obama’s impeachment over the Boston Marathon bombings, accusing the president of being “unwilling” to keep Americans safe. On April 23 Matt Drudge, owner and operator of the right-wing content aggregater The Drudge Report, tweeted that he “privately told friends” that 2013 would be the “year of Alex Jones.” Drudge has linked to the radio host and conspiracy-monger several times following the Boston Marathon bombings. On his personal twitter feed, Drudge predicted that 2013 would be the “year of Alex Jones,” praising his show as “one hell of a broadcast in such homogenized media!” In the wake of the Boston Marathon bombings, Drudge linked to articles on Jones’ website Infowars, including stories that  called  Boston a “police state” during the manhunt for the alleged perpetrators, and a  post  accusing the Obama administration of covering up the involvement of a Saudi student who was later declared a victim of the attack: Jones made news following the April 15 bombings at the Boston Marathon after he suggested that the blasts were staged by the U.S

Washington Examiner senior political columnist Tim Carney is using the murder trial of Dr. Kermit Gosnell to demonize an exceptionally rare type of legal abortion that is used to save the life of a mother. Gosnell has been charged with eight counts of murder, horrific acts committed under the guise of women’s health services that are detailed by a grand jury report and which an expert on reproductive health explained are not in line with legal abortion procedures.

An editorial in today’s Washington Post gives Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu credit for the Iranian government’s decision to stop short of accumulating enough enriched uranium for a nuclear weapon.
